Goin to Alabama with a banjo on my knee....

...well not really but I AM going to Alabama to Huntsville actually to visit a friend of mine. We've been friends since High School. She's been all over the world (she was in the Army) and now lives in Alabama. I miss that she's not here.

I'm so glad that I have an opportunity to go visit with her. Her dog is dying and I think that God is sending me there at this time to help her through it. She's been there for years and it's just now that I am going....another one of those God-incidences of life.

It's so cold here I sure hope it's warmer there. So off I go into the wild blue yonder! :)

Red Hat Hula

Dressed in our purple (or under 50 - Lavendar) and flowers in our hair, our red hat club, the Brush Babes & Buds held their first Annual Hula. One of our club member's daughter has been doing hula for 20 years. She came to teach us to hula to 2 songs.




As we were in the middle of the hula, between songs, we heard the sounds of bag pipes. Turns out it was for a wedding across the street at the church. It was a little strange to be doing the hula to Hawaiian music and Bag Pipes!


It was a lot of fun. I'm very left handed so I usually end up starting on the left side rather than the right which means I end up running into everyone...it added a great bit of humor to the dance. Another one of those Lucy Episodes I live in.

Anyway, it was such a hit, that we decided to do it every year.

Weird Dreams

Here's one for you.

I'm in a house. My husband is sleeping in the recycliner watching tv (like real life). And I'm laying in a hammock trying to do some leg raises because I want to look like someone who walked by who looked beautiful.

So a personal trainer pops up and is helping me with the leg raises. Do you know how hard it is to do leg raises in a hammock with another person in it with you...I do now!

Anyway, my friend Denise walks in and sits at the kitchen bar (I don't have one at my house..not sure where it came from) with her friend. And she's really really tan. I'm giving her a hard time about getting too much sun and she'll get skin cancer. So Denise & her Denise's friend start trying on clothes. The TV turns into a mirror. The clothes they have on are horrible. Don't match.....florals with hats with polka dots.

The friend of Denise has a really strong perfume on and it makes me and Charmaine start coughing (we both have breathing issues in real life) and I say to Denise we have to leave someone's perfume is making us choke ...................and then the phone rings. Thank God it wasn't real.

Spring....now I know how it got it's name....

.....springing back and forth from winter to spring. What happened to global warming. Everyone says we have global warming. I do not believe it. In my heart I believe we are doing the return to the ice age thing.

And while I am babbling up a storm. Did you hear someone wants Obama to release UFO files? Give me a break......what's up with that? Does it matter if there are little green men or not? I don't particularly care. In fact, I think it would be kind of conceited to think God would create only us. There's a big universe out there. I'm sure God was looking at it big picture since He's a big guy.

The other day I went to one of the Tea Parties in Annapolis, Maryland. I had a good time with 2000 other folks in the pouring COLD rain. Everyone was very agreeable and happy inspite of the frost burn we received. My favorite sign was "Congress is a Toxic Asset"....tell me if you believe that is true and you voted for those people again last term, tell me why you did it? I have always wondered why people would give unlimited terms to people they were not happy with. I saw the other day that the Congress has like only a 25% approval rating. So that means most of you don't like them but yet you keep voting for them...why?

I'm at work, taking a short break to post this. Another rambling/venting.........why do people in cubicles feel the need to YELL when they are talking to people. Is it so all of us will hear them? I really don't care for their conversations....................

Bulgaria ...

.........so where is Bulgaria. A long way away. My daughter Jackie and her beau are going to Bulgaria. It started out that she was going to go to a wedding ceremony but the bride who is from Bulgaria originally couldn't get whatever paperwork she needed so Jay and Jackie were stuck with 2 tickets $1,500 each! OUCH.

They decided to make the best of it and go there and then take a train to Greece and back to Bulgaria. So I'm wondering.......is Bulgaria a safe place? I've been looking online to see what I could see about it. It looks okay but I'm praying they will be safe there. That's so far away. I'm going to worry for eight days I'm sure. I found this cool picture of a monastery there.....it looks pretty anyway...........

10 years off my life.....

.....that's what my father did to me! He had a bladder biopsy because there were 2 spots that looked bad to the doctor on a recent test. I had been waiting to hear something and he hadn't called and I was afraid to call to ask.

I had to call my father about Easter and he said. I have bad news. My heart went to my stomach and I almost threw up. Then he said "My septic tank collapsed"............I told him I thought it was about his biopsy and he said, "no that's good, the doctor called and it's not cancer." I told him, I don't care about his septic tank & the poop, I'm just glad my Dad is okay and he laughed and said, we'll I care it's gonna be expensive!

Thank you God for answered prayers....................

Flab or Fit that is the question......

........okay I will admit it, I have let myself go. I am overweight (but not obese) and terribly out of shape. So I've been trying to do the exercise tapes I bought that I generally just look at and wonder if you can loose weight by just looking at them and imaging doing them....

Don't think so huh?

Well today I did Cindy Crawford. I didn't realize that the tape was in the middle which meant that the last time I did it (over a year ago) I did the first workout which is easier. I ended up with 40 minutes of belly blasting, arm and leg wrenching exercises.....

and now...................I can barely walk...

but maybe one

day I will look like

Animated Children....

I love animated children. They crack me up. Mason is one of the most animated I know. His face is so expressive. I hope as he grows he keeps that special quality. It makes him even more loveable.

Winter Reflections............

What do I like about winter? I have to think hard about this since I'm a summer girl but here goes:

1) The cold air kills germs (or atleast that's what Mom told me)
2) It's quiet when it's snowing (don't believe me go outside and see)
3) Freshly fallen snow is beautiful (so long as I don't have to drive in it)
4) The starkness of winter makes me better appreciate the beauty of the other seasons.
5) You occasionally get a snow day.
6) It's a good time to escape to a warmer climate.
7) Christmas is during the winter.
8) It's the only time you can make a snowman.
9) I can wear my many sweatshirts.
10) It is the last season before spring.

sometimes I wonder....

...just why I feel the need to be everyone's Mom. I think it takes a toll on me as I worry about everyone. I have a friend who had complications with an operation and is in the hospital, another friend with a blood clot, a coworker with cancer and I worry like crazy about all these people. I lit not one but two candles this week at church. I had so many that I was praying for it was almost like doing a litany of the saints.....

I remember when my parents were my age, my Dad saying that it was horrible watching all his friends get sick and then starting to die...........I know now exactly what he was talking about.

Life is too short people....enjoy it.

2009 2009 2009..........

.....hummmm how long will it take me to remember that it's 2009...well today was a very good day. I slept in (yeahhhhh), then I played my wii fit, walked on the treadmill, took a nap, went to dinner with the youth minister and rest of youth team volunteers....but last night....well lets say that's why I slept late. Midnight I hear a loud yelling, cussing, etc. I ran to the window in time to see about 20 kids running down the street with baseball bats. Next thing you know cops are everywhere. Well to make a long story short I find out in the am. that some kids was having a party.

There must have been some drinking involved. Anyway one kid found out that a bunch of kids were coming to bust his butt so he called his parents. They came and the bad kids beat up the dad and stabbed the mom in the leg and then as they were trying to leave in the car beat the car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mad craziness....it's usually a quiet neighborhood....sure hope this isn't a sign of what's to come in 09
